About Us
The AmutaThe Centre's activities are operated through a registered Amuta. The Amuta (which is a legal entity registered in Israel and which has been formed for a lawful objective not aimed at the distribution of profits) was established in 1989. The principal objectives of the Amuta are as follows: The management of a school for horse riding in Park Leumi, Ramat-Ga The advancement of the sport of horse riding in Israel in general, and in the Ramat-Gan area in particular. The provision of treatment through horse riding to those with special needs The acquisition of knowledge about horse riding and the enjoyment of the sport of horse riding. The members and the management of the Amuta are comprised of adults who rode and who currently ride, parents of children who take lessons at the Centre and representatives of the Municipality of Ramat-Gan. The members of the Board of Directors of the Amuta all give their time on a volunteer basis. Background to the Establishment of the Amuta The horse ranch which is in the National Park in Ramat Gan was established by the first Mayor of the Ramat Gan Municipality – Mr. Abraham Krinitzi. During certain periods, the ranch was used as a temporary address for the Ministry of Agriculture and as a station for the Israeli mounted police force. Renowned public figures (among them Haim Bar-Lev, deceased) used to visit the ranch regularly and ride the horses throughout the National Park. During that period, the ranch was managed by the Manager of the National Park. In the end of the 1980's a few tens of children learnt at the ranch and its activities were conditioned upon the budget of the Ramat Gan Municipality, which was considering whether to close the ranch or to transfer it to independent management. It was decided to opt for independent management and an Amuta was established for that purpose. This Amuta took upon itself to increase the number of persons benefiting from the activities of the ranch and to balance the budget. As from the beginning of 2000 there are more than 1,000 children and adults benefiting from the activities of the ranch each year. Some learn through riding lessons and others reach competition level and participate in the olympic professional riding competitions (show jumping and dressage). Others attend the riding summer schools and there are those who receive therapeutic treatment from the riding. The face of the ranch has changed beyond recognition – the riding areas have increased by 1,000 square meters to more than 6,000 square meters. Lighting has been added which enables riding to take place after dark. An indoor arena has been built for the therapeutic riding and thanks to that the riders do not need to have a break in the therapy. About some NIS 2 million have been invested in improving the place and have brought it up to accepted European standards. |
